my new girl cassie laid her first egg sunday morning, wasnt great very soft, monday nothing, tuesday she laid a smallish but perfect egg in the nest box no probs, wednesday laid again but wasnt great very soft, she had laid this i persume whist she was on the perch as it was on the floor under her, thursday nothing yet, does this all sound normal, and another question when they come into lay does there poo change whilst they are going through the change.    Nickyx

Nicky, I wouldn't worry. Mine used to lay the odd soft shelled egg not so long ago. I thought they had somehow dug up some masking tape or something when I used to find the shellless bits, not realising they were gobbling up the raw egg itself  They are about 15 months old now and Sybil my white star laid a double yolker two days on the trot a few weeks ago  Things will settle down.
