Should've gone to specsavers!

I picked up a packet of Hamburg Parsley thinking it was parsnip seeds  ::)

It looks like parsnip but apparently tastes more like celariac (?) and you can use the leaves and the root in your cooking.

Has anyone ever successfully grown Hamburg Parsley?

I tried it once Nipper but not exactly successfully.  I found the roots too small and fiddly to be worth cleaning and ended up pulling it out.

It does taste quite nice, but the leaves are a bit coarse, so I only ate the root.  Maybe if you fed & watered it well the root would swell up more.  I admit, I chucked the seeds in and apart from a bit of thinning and weeding, I left them to it.

Hi Nipper, Ive grown it for the last four years i love it, ive had some wapping roots and some small, nice roasted or mashed, tastes like mild parsnip with slight celery flavour, yummy.

Give them a go, seed take a wile to germinate l sow mine in late March.

I havent grown this either, does it have to be direct sown, or started off in pots?

Sow direct, if you dib a hole about a foot deep then sift some fine earth drop three or so seeds in and wait a few weeks, thin as soon as possible as the roots do not like being disturbed.

l normaly sow about the end March.
