Title: Cream Legbar, hybrid or pure breed?
Post by: nic_28 on December 07, 2011, 17:19
I just found a website from a breeder who only bred PURE Cream Legbar, are the birds called Cream Legbar hybrids? do they need to have the word Pure infront of their name otherwise if they are pure breed. I read Pure Cream Legbar are very rare ...confoosed!

they are now classed as a pure breed as they now breed true (they originated in the 1930's by mixing 3 breeds - one of which is the araucana hence the blue colour gene for the eggs as the araucana was the only true blue egg layer [and the the araucana is the only one whose shell is blue on the inside as well as outside unlike the other breeds]).
Most of the cream legbars have the wrong colouring and therefor not classed as good stock.

This site may be of help to you :-
