Title: Cobnut trees leaf problem

We have two cobnut trees, I presume it's two as one side is green and the other side is purple. Noticed yesterday the leaves on the purple side look like they are being eaten. Don't think the green side has been touched but to be honest I didn't really check... They look brittle, maybe as if drying up. Will try and post a pic later but wondered if anyone had any knowledge of them?
