Post by: sclarke624 on May 19, 2009, 23:50
I can throughly reccomend Lettuce mini green, a mini iceberg 'heart'.  Picked the first one today was very crunchy, very nice and about the size of a tennis ball.  You are supposed to pick when this size.  Got mine from Thompson and Morgan seeds.

The packet said:
few waste outer leaves....true.
Dense crunchy meal for one.......true.
Stands in condition for long periods...not sure what this means but if it means they can stay where they are until I'm ready once they are ready ....then true LOL.
Spring and summer sowings....nothing new there
Sow direct early spring..... or here.
Harvest June to October
Days to maturity 80......erm planted about mid march so harvested this one early really at 63 days.
Cut heads keep two weeks in fridge.
I only sowed two inches between mine supposed to have 8inches  but they are fine enough as I have them.

Swelling a bit but not much, enough to make me think are they swelling or not.  The other one is doing nothing, not a flower even.  I'll do a pic when I get a min, what with exam invigilating, bit of data input work at home, and planting (only do containers) replacement plants for all my dead ones this winter, life is pretty hectic.
