Title: Wing clipping Embdens
Post by: Squibbs on July 25, 2010, 22:26
Hello all,

Impulsively over a month ago I bought 3 embdens at auction - fairly sure they are 1 male and 2 females and definitely embdens. Friendlier than I had anticipated and much more personable than chickens!

Anyway some books seem to say all geese need wing clipping, some (but not all) that mention embdens specifically say they are too heavy to fly and clipping is not needed, I wonder if anyone with experience could offer me their wisdom?

Thanks

Our Embdens never flew above about 2ft from the ground squibbs, but they could fly very fast when they saw the postman coming up the drive!!!  :D :D

Mine would have to get 4ft at the lowest point - and unless they plan well more likely 6ft so hopefully I'll be ok.

I expect I could get them back with tempting lettuce anyway- they seem far too happy with their home comforts to fly off
