Rampant Raspberries!
« on: June 08, 2011, 11:41 »
I've just taken possession of an allotment....it's been a long wait! I've been gardening on and off for years but with some big gaps and the memory becomes unreliable so I will be asking lots of questions. There is a row of Raspberries and one of Loganberries running across the middle of the plot that are fruiting but very overgrown and congested. Can anyone offer advice about how to deal with them...what to do and when. Would it be possible to move them to one end of the plot and start again?? As I write  a strange noise allerted me....the first serious rain for weeks battering on the windows!
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer with this.

no experience on logan berries.
for raspies
now is not a good time to move though. you can take bare roots to newly dug, manured place in autumn. but remember raspberries are moreover like weeds. you have to clearout the root bits (might take a year) and constantly pull out the suckers appearing every week next year. (I am doing that at the moment)  :)
