I give mine a twirl as I pop them into the hole and the roots seem to go in a treat.  ::)  Very glad I've got mine in now, can't believe how much they've grown already.  :)

I put a few chicken manure pellets in some water and fed them that BQ.  It did seem to buck them up a bit.  Not sure about latest planting though...  Mine were about biro refill thickness and about 12" tall when I bunged them in.

I'll give it a go. They seem to have stopped doing anything

This the stage mine are at and I wasn't sure if they were thick enough or if I should wait. I might do it this weekend then once I have re-read how to plant them out

I wasn't going to put mine in either RJR but they have grown really well since planting out.  A nice deep hole (think my dibber is about 6" long and about 1.5" across) and then just fill the holes with water.  Only problem I had was getting the dibber back out again!   Must get one of those spade handle thingummys.... ::)

That will be a job for Sunday then. I have a spade handle I used to plant my onion sets as I snapped my spade on a bramble haha!

I've just said on another thread that my dibber is a fork handle with the fork snapped off the end!
It was a cheap fork - glad it has another use now.
