The forcast was right we have rain at last, now its started it won't stop :lol:but boy do we need it.
-
We, (I), need it too hun, :D, but there isn't any sign of it on the horizon. But if it is needed in Wales, then everyone needs it. Happy for you though.
-
Hmm, could someone share with us too please?
-
We woke to a badly needed and unexpected sharp shower, but the sky is blue and beautiful now. For the sake of the weekend fetes, festivals, teas, open gardens, weddings etc, I hope it stays this way. But thunderstorms are forecast for later ... I would prefer gentle overnight rain and blue skies in the morning but my odds aren't good.

In the past hour, we've gone from bright skies to completely overcast, thunder and torrential rain, and now it's clearing again. Just as well, as there's a bouncy castle going up next door (birthday party). :)
-
Thunder storm here in Hampshire at approximately 6.00 AM fair amount of rain I reckon.
I won't be watering today now unlike during the week 😀😀
Cheers HH
-
Big storm around Bournemouth in early hours. I got half a buttful...
-
Thunderstorm has just passed over us, dropped a pitiful amount of rain that dried up almost immediately, not enough to fill half a sand bucket, let alone a butt.
-
Cumbria is not renowned for its lack of rain but we'd had two months with only about five days of rain so today's heavy downpour was very welcome....even if it wasn't enough to fill all the water butts.
-
It's rained here overnight, could do with some more though. Was at the plot yesterday, it is so dry.
-
We had a thunderstorm pass over again last night, dropped more rain than the previous one, but was still travelling too fast.
-
It rained here again overnight, very happy.
-
We had plenty overnight, very damp this morning, wonder how far it will have gone in
-
A lively storm overnight but only 6.3mm of rain
-
Well mumofstig we've had a dusting of rain - could you share some of yours please as I don't think we've passed the 1mm point yet. ::)
-
We've been very lucky, with fluctuations between lovely sunshine, and lengthy showers. Wonderful growing weather.
-
We had light rain most of last night and all today. Garden looks and smells nice, but its done nothing to refill the water butts from the house roof.
-
Indeed ARP - hard to believe that so little rain could fall from from what has been a very dark sky nearly all day, especially so this afternoon.
Since it started at 0200 this morning, according to our local weather station in Norton Lees we've had a not-so-grand total of 2.2mm so far. :nowink:
-
Small sprinklings of rain are probably as counterproductive as inadequate hand waterings that do nothing but tease the crops in the wrong way.
I guess that's the problem with D word conditions over long periods. So much depends on one weather front and you're either lucky or you're not. We got 0.2 mm. The hosepipe is still in regular use, but fortunately these days most of my beds are no dig/little dig so little of what has fallen has escaped back into the air.

.
We have had lots of rain here in sunny Gloucester, grass very green, soil wet, two blue barrels filled the third well on the way in the allotment!
Heavy rain most of the morning and part of the afternoon, kids grounded and hating it!
Cabbages and kohl rabi plants loving it!
-
Don't worry too much about lack of rain. Some forecast models are predicting back to normal cooler unsettled conditions for the start of June. You may well be begging for the dry and sunny weather we've had in another couple of weeks.
-
I don't think so!
-
.
Have just watched two programmes about D Day the 6th June 1944, exactly the same conditions leading up to it as we have had this year,73 years on!
High winds squalls and heavy rain, supposed to go on the 5th, had to be put back to the 6th when hell broke loose!
And we have nutters rabbiting on about the climate here in England will be so hot there will be no lawns left!
People will say anything for bribe money!
-
Well since I last replied it's hardly stopped raining & some of the showers have been deluges. All 4 barrels at the plot are full

What are you on about? ::)
-
Its my day off and boy do we have rain and wind again ::)but we need the rain not the wind :mad:when its windy it makes every thing harder to do and puts me in a bad mood :mad:roll on sunshine next week :)
-
yes we have rain the plot has turned into a swamp the weeds are outgrowing the beetroot, parsnips, carrots the potatoes are just keeping up... thought i would try a hop plant this year WOW its gone mad 18ft high and wanting to go higher is it this rain! I need to get the hoe going before i lose the shed. Love this allotmenteering.
-
Believe it or not, but we're still struggling for water here. We've had some showers off and on since the storm early in the week, but it's dry 3" down, and I'm back to the watering can.. No rain forecast for the next 10 days.
-
..
Never have the potato tops looked so good!
Have had enough rain, now for some proper sunshine and summer, please!
-
Well, we got the sunshine, in buckets for nearly a fortnight, and my plot is parched.
However, I'm pleased to report today the heavier than forecast tippy tappy on my "conservatory" roof. A nice half an inch, maybe even three quarters, tonight and tomorrow would just be perfect, and just about seal my Summer crop success, well, apart from foxes, badgers, and the usual suspects.
-
Whoopee, it has just started to rain here, the first rain since June 10th or so, and that was the first in a month, the whole lawn is brown, it was forecast to start this afternoon, but it has taken till now, and it's only a few spots atm. arh.
-
After the MetO's rain possible flash flood warning - we got 7.6mm ::) I'm hoping we get some more overnight, not holding my breath though :nowink:
-
Well, we had rain last night, it started at 2215. I deliberately left the wheelbarrow out to see how much it collected, and I have approx 3/4" to 1" in the bottom. So, pleased!, but the barrels are still only half full, more forecast for Friday though. Must make an accurate rain gauge, (keep saying that, but never getting round to it,).
-
It's rained all night here too. Don't know how much we've had but the bird bath's full.
-

We had another 22mm overnight, no watering to do today :D
-
So I guess we had about the same as you Mum, same again next week please, :D.
-
Still on holiday in S Norfolk - yesterday afternoon a thundery deluge arrived whilst we were visiting Banham zoo, and continued until we left (early!)
When we got back to Dickleburgh, which isn't that far away, they'd barely had a drop ::), although later and all night it persisted down, much to the relief of an old dear a few doors away who claimed it hadn't rained for five weeks, her water butt was empty , and she was on a water meter.
According to my local (to Sheffield) online weather station it's been raining all day there (30mm and still counting) so no worries there as long as my friend has remembered the GH watering duties.
-
I know how that "old dear" feels JayG, I am in the same boat, no rain and on a water meter, with 7 water butts empty, and on "solow" tariff to add insult to injury.
-
Wettest 24 hours of the year here, with more to come in the next few hours. Excellent.
Now I suppose the slugs and blight will be baying at the door :D
-
It was raining last thing when i let the dogs out 10.30pm,its still raining this morning, i do live in Wales
-
It's back to sunny weather here, not a drop more has fallen, though the forecast is for some on Friday evening/night. Here's hoping, :).
