Can a duck forget where she has laid eggs?
« on: March 23, 2011, 09:41 »
There is a duck that visits our pond quite often. She has however laid  eggs in next doors garden ( not sure if nest has been disturbed ). This morning I saw her mooching around our garden as if she was looking for something, then she flew off. Will she remember where she has laid her eggs.

She was probably looking for food, she will return to the nest only briefly to lay until she has a full clutch to incubate.
If people keep checking before she is sitting tight a mallard (?) may abandon the nest and try elsewhere.
