So much information! Thanks everyone, I will try and absorb it all Especially fascinating from Casey ( thank you) which does sound along the lines of what the breeder was saying to me.
The older ( choc) orpingtons have been out for a few hours these last couple of days, I divided the big run with the 3 black Pekins in. They are just about fully feathered and will be getting a new home in the old pigsty soon with Henry, Kellogs and Tallulah. Will be kept separate though!
As for pics, I am sure my daughter has taken some and I will take a few more tomorrow anyway, and post them here.

What a beautiful picture of your daughter (?)

The chicks in the pic look quite young, I'd say a week to 10 days old.  They are still very fluffy and chick-like.  Once they get past two week old they grow into very awkward looking things, before starting to look more chicken like again at about 5 weeks.

I'm terribel at guessing the breeds, but Faverolles you can tell by their (extremely cute) muffs, and that they have five toes.

This Faverolles (always capitalized and always plural ;) ) is a day old

I don't know about the orpingtons, as i don't have any experience with them - I like feathery legs lol!

Lovely photos, stree.  And the wee girl looks like she's being so gentle with the chicks.  Delightful!   :)
