Title: Which large fowl to live with bantams?
Post by: krcoulls on June 20, 2010, 22:11
We are in the process of setting up a chicken house at our allotment and are starting to investigate which breeds to get. Could do with some advice, please, as to which breeds of large fowl live well alongside which bantams, sharing a hut.  Would like to have reasonable layers which are friendly around people (I have 2 small children), with a total of 6 or 7 chickens in all.  We don't want a rooster.

Many thanks for any thoughts about this!

We have four bantams, two Blackrocks, two Welsummers and five iSA warrens. They share everything and, apart from the usual squabbles at treat time, seem quite happy together. HTH

Orpingtons are usually very placid the danger being that the bantams may bully them! ???
