So sorry your chick did not make it.  If your hen has had chick before you should be alright but if it is a first time broody it might not be a good idea.

I have put nearly due eggs under my broody when the first batch didn't work, but take into account that your broody has lost weight and might need to put it back on.

You will need to lift her off the nest and gently lift her up and down so she flaps her wings.  This should wake her out of the trance they get in.  Make sure she has some food, chick crumb would be fine and a drink.  If she is eating pellets she will need grit to digest it.  If you do this regularly she should snap out of being broody.  If she still insists on sitting you could put a couple of eggs under her if you can get some chicks in the next day or so to swap for the eggs.

spoke to a old boy at the paper shop earlier (who use to show hens)
he said put her back with others and they will sort her out
so i did a few swear words and boxing blows later and she was
wandering round eating drinking and looking happy,
she was the head hen before i took her out to
the other coop.
went and shut them up and all three sitting close to each other.
will see how she is when i open coop in the morning
