Veggies and Hens

Does anyone keep chickens and grow veggies on their plot? Hubby said I couldn't do it because a) the plots would be too small (possibly right) and b) the chcikens would eat all the veg.....

Yes, the chooks would eat the veg, and dig it up, so keep the chooks in a run. Then you can have both.  :D

I've got both.  When I'm around I let the chooks run around the entire allotment, veg and all, and they've never nibbled at any of the crops; they stick to the weeds and titbits I give them.

To be honest, if I just left them to it all day, every day they would strip the entire place bare, but because I keep them in their run when I'm not around they don't get the run of the place (excuse the pun).

You don't need to give up the entire plot for them, but depending on how many you will have I'd say to give them about 1/4 of your plot which should be big enough for up to 8-10 of them.
