Broken throttle lever
« on: February 03, 2008, 09:21 »
Anyone any idea where I can get a throttle lever for my flymo DM ?

It's only the plastic knob that's broke off, but I'm selling it a bit later on this year and think it would be better if I replaced it rather then repair or made one.

It looks like an older mountfield plastic piece if thats any help.

Cheers

How about phoning Flymo and asking, or a local garden machinery repairer.

If you phone up "Hello, I need a new knob" if a similar jovial person on the end of the phone is up for a bit of knob banter, you're more likely to get a result.

Werked fer me and my cooker knobs from Creda

Cheers Graham I'll get one sorted,  it looks identical to one I had on an old mountfield mower of mine.

I won't have a mountfield one ( I haven't worked on them for years ), but I might have something in the old hayter range, ( they're all the rage these days don't-you-know :D )
Is it a piano type wire, or a stranded cable?

The other stupid question I need to ask is:
At the end of the cable that fits onto the carb links, Does it push out, or pull in to get choke or high speed?

Corr now your asking !

Here's a pic

I know it's a solid cable, but I'll have to dig it out of the shed to see if it pushes or pulls, it's bent at the end to hold it in place.

If I could work out how to stick the knob back on succesfully that would do Graham,  any ideas ?

I'm pretty damn sure that I have a throttle lever like that around someplace.
With a little bit of jiggery pokery, I'm sure a man of your calibre could get it to fit.
I will have a looksee t 'morrow, and see if I can dig it out. If I can, I will let you know so that you can send me your address.
