Potting/general shed
« on: January 20, 2013, 18:52 »
I have an old 6x4 shed that I keep 2 bikes in as well as other tools. It is too small as the bikes take up a lot of the space. I have been out and measured and I can go to 8 x 6 with a new shed. I would love to be able to have a small potting area at one end as well as the bikes being kept on the other side.

The reason also is my roof is starting to rot as well as some of the side panels (I did treat it) and even though I put new felt on a few years ago the water is getting in. Good excuse to get a bigger one anyway as this isn't worth repairing for the small size.

Can anyone recommend a good company with good prices and perhaps a good model if it isn't asking too much ?

Thankyou.

I got mine from a local garden centre. It was a potting shed with slanting glass side. Someone else had a straight glass side which meant extra shelving could be put across for extra seedlings. Paid about £450 I think, well built and was moved from lottie to new home.
would measure the space taken up by the bikes, cut out newspaper same size and palce down in sheds at garden centre to see how much room you would have.

I got this one, which is quite often on offer for £350.

Way out my price range. I am thinking between £100-£250. Something like this

be aware -  the headline prices do not include a floor or bearers  - they are  optional extras  :(

That sounds like a right con, but then there's no such thing as a cheap shed.  :nowink:

Spend some money, take your time  and you'll end up with what you want at a fraction of the price.

Also look around for some wood and windows you can recycle  :)

A glazed extension to your existing shed sounds like the best way forward. There is one on our allotment site that is really good... all from old double glazing units and windows....

Have you  tried    sheds  direct,  there are a few different sellers on there ,some are a reasonable   price  even after having to pay for a base.

 Cheers Carl

If I had more free time, I would have built mine from scratch - you definitely get exactly what you want then, and it's very satisfying.

Mine did include absolutely everything, including delivery to my site, and apart from perhaps putting an extra bearer or two in under the floor, it's been great.
