I grew some this year which I think were either Corno do Torro or Red Marconi - packets got a bit mixed up! They were pointy like Corno but red where I think Corno are supposed to be yellow
...very nice so saved some seed...

I grew Sweet Spanish Mammoth, also a pointy one............not many ripened to red last year because of the weather, but I had quite a few green ones.

Any suggestions for a red bell pepper? I grew Pepper Rubens for my pointy grilling peppers this year, which are a very good variety, and Purple Beauty for bell peppers. The Purple Beauty were ok but I'd like a good red one too.

I grew one called Kaibi this year, in some 1m tall cloches.

Best peppers we have ever had -- thick, blocky fruit with an excellent flavour.

Ripened well despite the dodgy summer weather -- loads of them too  8)

Oh, they look nice. Does anybody else sell them, do you know, or is it just Real Seed?

Looking for some recommendations on sweet pepper varieties? will be grown in a polytunnel.

What do you want them for? For eating qualities (as in salad), is hard to beat any thick flesh, heavy croppers, like some Hungarian and other Eastern-european varieties. Healthy, for ezample, Simpson's Seeds.

For grilling, any rubbish will do.

I've just tried grilling a banana skin and it tastes nothing like a pepper

Last year I grow Toppepo Rosso which were okay for a first timer. They came from B&Q.  I grew 4/5 plants and didn't buy a pepper from the shops all summer/autumn.  I thought about it and decided that the quality and price from the shops was pretty good for bell peppers so I have deliberately avoided them this time and gone for a pointy sweet one called Antonhi Romania. I got the seeds from Nickys Nurseries on the net.

The name comes I believe from a Romanian olympic athlete who defected some time before the wall came down and so they named a pepper after him.

I have a Romanian pal who speaks highly of a red pepper called GoGocsar which is fat and red and round on the seed packet she gave me but never germinated. The seeds don't appear in the UK and I shall be trying them again when I get some fresh ones from her.

I would reccomend Nickys Nurseries as they have an extensive list to look at including chilli. I am going for jalapeno this time. Last year I grew Joe's Long successfully but they weren't hot at all.
