I've never kept a clematis before but admired so many others.

I have a spare pot this year and would love to put a clematis in it - we're south facing if that makes a difference.

Can anyone recommend a variety that will flourish and grow quickly (I don't like waiting - my wife calls me impatient, I prefer to call it enthusiastic!!)

Well, clematis is a heavy feeder, abit like roses with the lot of bloom, don't personally know how a big one you could keep in a pot, usually smaller ones are offered for that.
And if you don't like waiting, that spells an excuse trip to a nearby specialised nursery for an older, suitable specimen.
