this is my first time growing winter squash. I am starting to think thats its been a waste of time planting them due to the weather not being good enough for them and the short growing season. I am worrying that the season will end and the fruit are not ready.
the winter squash are out side and not in a frame.

thyare at the male flowering stage and some haven't even started to flower.

will they make it and producee ripe fruit before their season ends???

1 Where are you?
It depends on where about in the country you are, mine have been in the ground for weeks but have only just started growing they are about 6 inch long at the moment, unless you are in the artic circle we have two hot months to come and I am not expecting any frosts till december.

i'am in the midlands. is two months enough? some are at the male flower stage,s ome have no flowers yet. will they continue to grow until the end of september or will they stop at mid september?

Mine have been harvested in October in the past, so don't panic.

They'll suddenly take off.

We've had wonderful crops in North Yorks some years and moderate crops other years - never a complete failure. They are usually slow starting then grow rapidly
