Greenhouse & Propagators
« on: February 26, 2007, 14:59 »
I've got four nice big propagators, but no windowsill space for them.  Can I use them in the greenhouse?  Obviously it'll be cooler than the house, but frost free if I put the heater on.  Or is there little point?  I haven't got a clue about growing under cover, so any advice would be welcome!

Also, is it too early to start greenhouse crops - should I be planting anything in there yet?

I partition my greenhouse in half for the winter months I keep one half frost free to over winter my geraniums, and I've had tomato, pepper, and onion seedlings growing for about two weeks in there, as I have no room in the house, I like to get the tom's and peppers off to an early start in the year, but I would imagine the weather is probably a bit warmer here than where you are.

Well, after school, the nipper and me sowed eight broad beans into newspaper pots, and popped them in a propagator in the GH.  That's my urge to sow sated, so I'll get on with preparing the soil borders ready for when spring actually does arrive!

Should I dig in some rotted manure?

Yes I would, except where you are going to plant carrots.
