Thought about Orpingtons as an option, need something that is good with children any recommendations.

I have buff orpingtons, 4 hens and a cockerel and they are very placid and tame . The cockerel is the quietest i've ever had - the neighbours hardly get disturbed at all  :wink: . I have been pleasantly surprised by their egg laying [as i got them partly for the table (7 went there)] as they are currently out performing my marans and with larger eggs as well  :D
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
