[Flyin Chickens]

I have two hens both in thier first winter who have been laying approx 10 eggs a week between them over the winter months.

This week I have had the grand total of 0.

Is this normal during winter?

OMG 10 eggs a week!! OUTSTANDING work!! I didnt think chooks layed in winter months, not enough daylight hours? Don't worry they will asume their positions again let them rest!! ONE egg would be good here!!

Mine stopped laying the day of the "quake" but apart from that service has been resumed as normal. Usually they seem to lay ok in their first winter it's the second + that seems to affect them more.

Have you changed their diet or anything that you can think of ?give them a quick once over to make sure they have not picked up mites or something similar.

I have 4 bantams and have had 2 eggs every day through the winter. Perhaps the quake has unsettled them. Iwould be strange if the weather has put them off because it has been quite sunny of late.
