Title: zip-up greenhouse
Post by: noshed on March 26, 2006, 20:56
My cheapo greenhouse seems to be doing well on our windy balcony - that bit of shelter seems to make all the difference. £15 well spent. It's full of seeds now so I hope it continues to do its magic.

I have a walk-in one of those and a 4tier one. The walk-in one is riddled with holes after 1 year and the 4 tier's cover has finally broken apart completely. I've not been very impressed with how long this allegedly UV resistant plastic holds up for, to be totally honest  :? Having said that, I've grown a cucumber plant in the walk-in greenhouse and 4 pepper plants and another 4 pepper plants in the 4tier one). I found I had to take out one shelf to allow the pepper plants some space.

I had better luck it seems, but I took mine in over winter - just one of the little zip up plastic ones, and last year I had great success with green peppers.

I think that mine was even less - about £7 I think.

Ours lasted a couple of years - I'm hoping my second hand 50.00 10 by 8 proper greenhouse will get built soon.  This blinking weather isn't helping.

The innards of one plastic house are now doing duty in the lounge - yes we live in a plant nursery!!

john your OH must be very patient or else plant mad too!! my Oh asked me if i thought that he hadn't noticed my expanding seedling collection on the side in the kitchen - i told him i hoped he had noticed it because it would encourage him to sort out a greenhouse for me sooner rather than later!

The stand in the lounge is four tiers high and holds 4 seed trays per shelf. I've been allowed (by begging and pleading) to put three trays on it!

The spare bedroom has chitting potatoes on the bed and plants in the window ledges.

Yes, we're both crazy.
