No flowers on potatoes
« on: July 15, 2009, 16:40 »
I planted Anya potatoes and International Kidney on 25 April, after chitting them all.  To date (nearly 12 weeks later) there are no signs of flowers, or their buds.  I have had a look at both varieties and the potatoes are there, but some are the size of marbles, whilst other on the same plant are a good eating size.  I have fed fish, blood and bone on a couple of occasions and also twice with a liquid general purpose fertilizer.  Maybe Anya and International Kidney do not flower?  What would your advice be - harvest these now or continue to let both varieties grow on?

It depends what you want out of the plant.

If you want that "new" potato taste, you'll have to sacrifice some of the small ones.

If you want maximum crop, you'll have to let the plant grow to maturity.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
