Somebody offered me a tray of these.

What makes them mini exactly? If they are shorter but crop as heavily as a conventional sweetcorn then i'll give them a go.

If they grow just as big but the harvest is smaller they are going straight into the compost bin!  :tongue2:

3-5 mini sized cobs. Whip the tassels off before they grow. Harvested unpollinated.

You can space them a lot closer that full sized corn - about 8", so you can put 4 times as many plants in the same area.

Here's one supplier:

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD. I'll cram them in some spare ground and give them a go.

Blimey DD, you manage to grow them at 8" spacing?

Mine are planted same as my other Sweetcorn and they grow huge, by comparison to the new/dwarf varieties. Not sure I could cram them in at 8" spacing, but I'm prepared to have a go!

(Just checked the packet which says "15" each way" for what that's worth ... Joy Larkham says "Can use most types at close spacing (Joy recommends 15" between rows, 6" between plants) - or special cultivars as per supplier's recommendation" - take your choice then!)

Time will tell -- mine are about six inches tall now and other are about twelve, so they do seem a bit smaller than usual. :)
