What is the best grit to give my girls and how do I give it them?

If you buy oyster grit from your feed supplier it will come with crushed shell to help with firming up the eggshell, and grit to help them digest their food, just mix some with their pellets :D

mine dont seem to touch the tuff in the bowls that i give them, but they always have it in their crop (i can feel it), so they must get it from the ground when they are free-ranging. Anywhere that sell food for them should sell it, just ask for poultry grit :D

you can get grit feeders so they always have a regular supply.

Layers pellets have grit and oystershell in them so you probably dont notice them taking in the grit from a feeder, especially if they free range.
Now retired from the day job and working hard on my smallholding.
