pork hock - best way to cook
« on: November 22, 2008, 12:36 »
hello, there was a thread recently about cooking pork hocks, and the best method seemed to be using a pressure cooker.  i don't have the luxury of one of those, and was wondering on the best way to cook it using a normal oven?

i've never cooked these before, but saw them down the market the other day and they were dirt cheap.  any recommendations?  i've seen a few suggestions to say roast them, possibly with maple syrup, i don't have any of that but do have honey as an alternative, so possibly some kind of glaze perhaps.  any suggestions?

I usually cook mine in a thick soup.....gives it a lovely flavour. When cooked strip meat off and add to the soup!!!!  :D

I usually boil mine too.  You can make a great beetroot soup with one.

Chuck it a slow cooker and leave over night on low, in the morning strip the ham and make pea or broad bean and ham soup with the bones, cut some of the meat and chuck in the soup.
