Hi all... I have planted my strawberries and courettes through a woven weed suppressant fabric. Unlike a material fabric it is a woven polypropylene bag that like a grain bag or like what coal and stuff like that comes in.

Anyway - (touch wood) I have noticed that there has been no sign of any slug or snail on the fabric at all. I have slug pelleted a few times and not one dead slug has been found.

So I think the rough surface of the fabric is a natural deterrent!! I have had a few strawbs eaten where the fruit has snuck under the fabric to mature - but not many at all. There are no snail trails that I can see so maybe it's the answer to our slug problems.

Has anyone else found this?

I've been using this kind of fabric for years and have plenty of slug problems

The solution for my slugs is to pick them out of the dustbin lids I leave out for them, into a bag and drop them in the local street bin where a lorry takes them out to the landfill site 5 miles away. Let them find their way home from there!

I covered my IBC tank with those!!   You got me thinking...  maybe I'll do some trials and see if water will go thru the bags..
