Help I have an Indian runner drake, not currently in with any girls, i noticed about 20 mins ago that his penis has not gone back in, i have spoken to the vet they have said to try and cool it down, so it shrinks and may go back in. Has any one got any other suggestions?

Thank you for that Caralou, i have managed to push it back in, will check him in a bit to see if it has stayed put, otherwise it will be a trip to the vet!
Maybe a silly question, but will he still be able to do the deed or is that the end of his fertility?

If the prolapse remedies itself with popping back in he will be able to do the deed again - but keep him away from the ladies for a little while. Is he in with other drakes? I had to pull Bumble off his son yesterday as he was trying to tread him and it could cause a prolapse for the poor boy. If he is with other drakes and they are trying to tread him he will need to be separated to heal up.

I hope it stays in and and he heals up quickly   I hate to think what my neighbours thought of me yesterday as I ran down the garden shouting "Stop **** your son you little pervert you'll break him" while flapping a towel at Bumble to get him off!

That is good news   It must be a ducky medical day as Bee here has an eye infection as he refuses to use the big fresh water bucket to dunk his head in and the ducklings mucky up the pond water so quickly - I'm starting to think drakes are really the daftest of the daft! Need to go and get him out of the house to wash his eye but this storm is raging here.

Hopefully with a bit of respite your boy will be ready for action within a few weeks and producing lots more lovely runners for you

I haven't had any from him yet!!! He is separate from his girlie at present as i have lots of boys that i am gradually getting rid of, i have 3 girls, but all the drakes will end up killing them if i put them back in, so until the rest of the boys go the girls are staying out.

is it worth trying some haemorrhoid cream ( yes really) to make it easier to reduce the swelling.
Another little anecdote- I once looked after a chap who had an erection for over 12hours (which is not only very painful but also has the potential for causing gangrene) Anyway poor chap had to have a blood pressure cuff attached and inflated to a certain level and kept at this pressure overnight until all returned to normal
So chickens, ducks and humans- not so very different at times eh?

Sometimes it can take a few attempts and the fact it did stay in the first time for a day is hopeful. In the event he does have to have an "op" he will just be a non-egg laying girlieboy The haemorrhoid cream is also a very good idea thanks jhub for the tip

Cream is on the way, will give it a clean up and pop the cream on, should i push it back in with the cream on or leave it out?
