Chicken Run
« on: May 19, 2010, 18:50 »
Hi all

Was wondering what the best material is to put down on the floor of my run which is 15 Sq M and is in the corner of my garden on some lawn (or should i say was lawn). Should i leave it as it is or put something else down??

Hi there!  My run sounds similar to yours.  Mine was grass and is now just soil but I think my chucks love is more as they scratch for worms.  Sometime the OH digs over a corner so they can get the fat ones.

I must admit that our run is now covered with corregated plastic!  At least I won't have to go through another boggy winter  :D

I also use the bark, just to keep the area a bit less boggy.  The bark can be raked out and renewed as needed.  I throw the old bark onto the compost.
