Name that poison
« on: April 09, 2017, 09:37 »
Can anyone remember the name of the rat poison that I used years ago?  ::)
It wasn't one of the anticoagulant ones but worked by making them not thirsty, so they stopped drinking and dehydrated. Supposedly a kinder death, and was recommended by owl trust or suchlike because it didn't poison owls if they ate a poisoned rat.
Even if the voices aren't real,
They have some really good ideas!!!

Got it! Eradibait!
But hubby seems to remember it not working because our rats then wouldn't touch the stuff.

Anyone have any success with it?
Asking for my sister who has a problem with them at the mo, and doesn't want to use the anticoagulant stuff for fear of secondary poisoning of neighbourhood cats.

I seem to remember we ended up using fenn traps, but I know she won't fancy that option.

if using Erad make sure that there is no other food source (bird food, chook food, compost bin(that should be wired underneath)

Thanks all. Thankfully not my problem this time.
Sister has weighed up the options and decided to get the council in and let them deal with it.
She doesn't have chooks, but suspects rats have come in from nearby garden that until very recently did have a hen run.
Seeing loads of rats including babies, even seeing them through the day.
Think, under the circumstances, probably the right decision.
