Poulton Pride all year Rhubarb
« on: October 09, 2015, 17:09 »
I fell for the advert this Spring and bought three roots. They were advertised by the grower, DT Brown, as being harvestable for ten months of the year. To be honest I planted them more in hope than anticipation. I needn't have worried, after a slowish start, they are absolutely rampant with fresh new growth just as the old traditional plants are dying off. As the instructions advised against picking any in the first season, I have no idea as to taste but if it tastes half as good as it looks, roll on next season.

Anyone else tried this new creation?

I got one in early summer from them for the taste aspect rather than continual productivity. The plant was small and looked fine but had a slow start like yours. Now it is burgeoning all over the raised bed so will have to move it to a smaller one. Haven't tried any yet as I assumed it's more for harvesting in spring to summer time, but a stalk or two won't go amiss just to see what the texture is like at the moment.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
