Tomato plant... should i have pinched this out?

Hi. I looked at my tomato plant and what i thought was the central shoot now looks like it should have been pinched out.

Im quite new to this sorry. Im also not too sure on the variety but heres a pic of the whole plant.

The main stem is the one leaning to the right, the stem in the middle is a sucker.
Avg Last Frost Date, April 9, Avg First Frost Date, Oct 26

You are correct in thinking that the stem on the left is a sucker. You could keep them both and have two stems or prune one out.

But looking at the spacing of your plants it might get pretty crowded in there with two stems.

pinch out the sucker and keep pinching out the ones further up, sooner the better this way the plant will grow straighter and you can support it better.

Pinch out suckers and just bung 'em into the border - they tend to root very readily!

Tyou can pinch it off but it looks a little large, when they're that thick, I use a stanley knife to cut it off cleanly.

When they've gotten to that size I usually just leave it and resigned myself to losing the pruning battle.😜. Maybe this year will be different.
