Next year I will not.....

I think we're far enough into the season to dust off this old chestnut, so lets be having it.

Next year I will not ...

1. Over crowd the greenhouse
2. Use cheap compost or additive
3. Leave just 1' bed spacing think I will be able to squeeze past.

OK! Next year I will not......
Try and grow 6 varieties of tomatoes and then wonder why I am confused.
Plant my rows of anything so close together. ( said this last year!)
Sow my seeds before April.

Next year I will not ...

1) Still be doing infrastructure works on the allotment early in the season
2) Growing on too many tomatoes because I can't compost the runts of the litters
3) Growing too few spring onions and beetroot early on.
4) Be as bad at sequential/successional sowing (I hope)

not over plant new potatoes (put more mains in instead).

not go on holiday for 2 weeks just when things need sowing, potting up, and planting out.

1. Use cheap compost, it's a completely false economy;
2. Wait so long before sowing my toms, beans and cues;
3. Buy so many different types of pots;
4. Munch all of the sugarsnaps that MoS kindly sent me for seed (sorry Mum!  :tongue2:).

I also will not (hopefully) be so bad at successional sowing  :D
I will not need to use my spare room as a greenhouse

There's no point in saying I won't overcrowd the greenhouse cos' I will :tongue2: :lol:

1. Grow quite as many potatoes
2. Think that that six squash plants are enough
3. Not leave it so long before starting off the French beans
4. Leave it too late before transplanting the peas
5. Grow Monica broad beans

1. Leave it so late to plant out the first batch of runner beans
2. let hubby tell me I can't possibly sow any more seeds indoors
3. buy quite sooooo many seeds ;-)

  • miss out on some salad leaves much earlier (or keep them going all year ideally)
  • as others have said, fail at successional sowing
  • not (double negative!) sow a couple of tomatoes really early (I have a heated greenhouse)
  • sow soooo many cabbages and cauliflowers

Next year I will not ...

Good post !

As a new allotment holder I was going to start a post about newbie plot holder mistakes, but this is just about the same.

Next year I will not .... plant my onions so close together, as it is proving difficult to weed between them.

Next year I will not .... wait until my broad bean plants are about 3 feet tall and falling over the place to provide support for them.

Next year I will not ... net my brassica plants in such an awkward way, that it prevents me from getting in a hoeing the ground.

Next year I will not ... let any bird eat my strawberries.

I'm sure there are more ... but I'll give somebody else a chance
