Paint for plastic pots
« on: April 13, 2010, 12:26 »
I was given some plastic terracotta-look-alike pots and they have faded to an awful pink. Is there any paint I can get that will stick to the pots and not flake off..?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Think it all comes off eventually but why don't you ask in the local DIY store. I think there is some sort of key coat that goes on first - come to think of it a craft store might be a good place to try, there are all those fancy paints for aging and patinating plastic - yes, definitely - craft store!

Ive used the sort you paint the outside walls of your house with and its sticks to the plastic and terracota pots very well too well really as I had a thing about all the posts being black a couple of years back and painted everything - Ill never learn ::)

Rendering paint may well be the cheapest option as you can get tester samples. I was also wondering about Hammerite of which I have a tin I bought to do my hanging baskets and metal troughs. Will experiment and let you know - thanks!

Hi

Hammerite will stick, but not sure how long it will last.

We used it many years ago to paint a pot red for an Christmas tree.  :)
