A climbing yellow french bean?

I grew dwarf yellow french beans a couple of years ago (I don't think they are particularly uncommon) but I've not come across a yellow climber. Any idea of the name and what were they like for taste?

I was told by Mrs L not to bother with the yellow dwarf ones again   ::) - in her opinion they tasted like disinfectant!  :tongue2:

Unfortunately they have no idea off name but both very tasty. i have seen them in catalogues, as you say, but rather get info from other growers. Catalogues so often only make everything sound good, lol, :D

It could be one from Seeds of Italy cornetti meraviglia something or other or Kentucky Wonder Wax

King seeds sell them.

Corona d'Oro.

Very nice taste but i had germination probs with them this year and took ages to get going. Last year was great.

I've grown Goldfield, but they're flat rather than pencil podded.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for the links!  :)

Did anyone else think the yellow varieties had a less than lovely flavour.... or was it something I did (disinfectant taste???  ::))

Goldfield was tasty I thought, a little buttery.  Haven't tried any others.

Mine tasted good. Could be soil type, area etc.

It's probably like potatos. They will taste different elsewhere on different soils.

I've grown Neckergold for 2 seasons and they taste great.  I much prefer climbing french beans to dwarf - not so hard on the back and not so vulnerable to slugs.

Mine took time to get going this year - as did the runners.  I think it was just the year - once they got the hang of it they romped away.

Unfortunately the Cobra never got the hang of it this year, but the purple podded were brilliant ........strange that one lot did well and the other failed ...all on the same teepee

There are many things in this gardening lark that defy explanation .....     I've been tempted by the thought of purple podded for next yr - what variety did you grow?
