Title: Sulphur Candle in greenhouse
Post by: Lottie Digger on November 11, 2017, 11:29
I'm using my greenhouse to store squashes would it affect them if I used a sulphur candle to fumigate or do I need to move them all out. Your opinion please  ::)

Everything has to come out for a sulphur candle.

You do realise that if we get a hard frost your squashes will turn to mush? The glass alone gives little cold protection.

The squashes have survived so far this is the third winter. The greenhouse is in a sheltered area  :)

I would not keep squash in the greenhouse even if it is frost free , condensation will encourage mould and mildew .

I would not risk a sulphur taint on them from the smoke candle which i would be useing a bit closer to the growing season .
