Title: To force or not to force?
Post by: Goosegirl on February 17, 2017, 11:26
I planted a rhubarb two years ago which did very well last year. Is there any need or advantage in forcing it or should I just leave it to crop like last year?

Depends how much you like rhubarb ,forcing is just another way of extending the season, but from the start of the season
I think the early forced is nicer

I would leave it for this year, forced rhubarb is sweeter than unforced but you are supposed to force it every 3rd year & leave it be the year after forcing, so if you did force it this year you wouldn't be able to pick any next from it. Ideally you need 3 clumps to force 1 each year, & pick the other one that wasn't forced last year if you get my drift

Thanks for that - will leave it alone this year.
