feeding corn

Hello Prettychick,

I give my bantams access to layers pellets all day ad lib and a handful of corn each in the evening about an hour before they go in to roost.

Layers pellets are like the bread and butter of chicken food.  They have the nutrients that the chickens need but taste a bit boring after a while.  Corn should be a treat and, like chocolate, they should not have too much of it.

I have seen it recommended to feed the corn (roughly 1 oz per large fowl) at roosting time as corn is slower to digest than pellets and it will keep the birds well `fueled` on cold winter nights.
