Help Grannie Annie please!

Have had enough of Minty's bad behaviour. Poor old Sunset is still being pecked. As soon as a feather begins to pop through the surface of her bottom, Minty pulls it out completely.....where can I get one of those anti peck rings?? I'll give it a go and see if Setty can grow some feathers back.

How do you keep goggles on a chicken then Bodger????  :D

I'm sorry your still having probs westie.  I've never used the anti peck rings myself, but our 2 week old Babcock chicks have started pecking each other now, little s**s!!!

If you'd like a couple of the anti peck rings Auntie sent me, PM me your address and I'll slip a couple in the post!

I know Solways do them and places like Ascott's, but they only do them in big packs I think!

Did you try teh purple spray?  and I also used cheapo vaseline stuff mixed with liquid paraffin, that sometimes works, but these Babcock's seem to like the taste of the stuff!!!!!  I may have to try Stockholm Tar!!!

They slot into their nostrils.
I fitted my last lot about a week ago and I'm now picking eggs up from brood pens where previously the occupants were gobbling the lot on a one for me and none for you basis.

Sorry Aunty, I thought it was Granny who had posted the pictures of the hen with a nose ring. That'll teach me for not checking first!

And sorry Bodger, I didn't realise you'd be upset too...(I didn't know about your goggles!)

So apologies over.
Yes please I'd appreciate your off er of a couple in the post.

Thank you one and all!

You're all very friendly.
Now, how do I pm?? Not done this before so need more help!

Oh and in reply to the question about whether I've tried the stinky spray and the purple spray...yes I have and it has  reduced the pecking but not stopped her altogether. I think they've got used to the smell (goodness knows how).

What about stockholm tar? I've read a few reviews about it. Ha sanyone used it successfully?

If you look at the bottom of your post, Westie, you'll see a couple of little buttons, one of which is the 'pm' button.
You find a post from someone you wish to send a message to and click on their pm button which takes you to the private message page.

Can't help with the rest I'm afriad but an interesting thread.

I've ried it once but it's very messy and very stinky.  I don't think I'd use it again  :!:
