Can anyone recommend a supplier of insect protection netting please?

We bought butterfly netting from the garden centre and it is rubbish. I have watched butterflies contort themselves through it and now my brassicas are covered in caterpillars.

I'm after some finer net now to keep off cabbage whites and cabbage root fly. I need quite alot of it and I notice fine stuff is pretty pricey. Before I part with my cash, can anyone here recommend any?

I used scaffolding netting this year and I've had no caterpillars,pigeons etc get to my cabbages, 1st time ever I've bought lovely cabbages home  

See if you can scrounge some of freecycle or try a scaffolding firm they may be chucking some with holes in that you could use.

I've been having a look at it. One thing I'm wondering about... does it shade the plants too much? Is there anything I shouldn't put it on?

I recently bought some of this from ebay.

I was also initialy concerned about it shading the plants but was reasured by this site that it wouldn't.

I think it's brilliant and have had my best cabbages ever this year

try freecycle before you buy it just in case, i did and got some 10m x 4 m and it's brand new.

Well we couldn't find any free soon enough so we got 50m x 3m from Ebay for £40 ish. We are going halves with another plot holder.

We planted out our spring cauli's and cabbages tonight and covered them with it. It is great - not heavy at all and still plenty of light going through.

Will put our sprouting broccoli out at the weekend, then pick the kale and calabrese over for eggs one last time before we put this on em.
