When did you plant them Alex?
We didn't put ours in until beginning of May because of the weather so they are nowhere near ready but looking strong and healthy.

Mine all have 4 on them but look nice and healthy. How do you know when they are ready? Never grown them before.

Foiliage dies down, lift them, let them dry out, then throw some vingear at them.

(Well, almost).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Blimey - can't see OH planting anything on Boxing Day.  :?
They are almost like over wintering onions then. Can you get the sets that early or do you have to save this year's?

Brilliant Alex!  :tongue2:  Very envious!!

Might they be mikor, pikant or red sun ???  I'm told the flavour of the reds is more impressive than the golden!

Mine were not so good  :(  and included many small 'set size' bulbs  :? .... would they be suitable for this years 'seed' do you think ??

Planted ours on Sunday 3rd April (sad that we made a note of the date...........but we did) planted some broad beans on the same day, just finished harvesting those.

Boxing day, Aidy, now that  seems a better idea than going for a long walk or watching the Great Escape! Going to try that next time around

My shallots only have two on each plant.  Also my onions  and garlic although very tasty are very small as well.

Any suggestions.

Well I got to about 20 and gave up.

Sorry the pics blurred, there are over 20 honestly

I knew there would be loads as I remember planting a massive one and as we all know plant a small 'un to get fewer but bigger ones and plant a big 'un to get loads of small ones.
