Title: Garden pigeon scarer
Post by: AlaninCarlisle on April 15, 2018, 13:47
Living where we do, we are over run by wood pigeons at this time of the year. It's not practical to net the whole veggie plots, so I'm looking for any recommendations as to scarers or deterrents, please.

Sparrowhawk or kestral kites. We have a kestral kite and it even keeps the seagulls away

You mean like a kite we used to fly as kids but shaped like a kestrel?

Similar. they hang on a pole and move as if they are flying in a breeze

Last year I put some cheap plastic windmills (from poundland) in my onion and green bean beds and that seemed to help reduce the pigeon nibbling - though like most thin plastic they eventually fell apart, so I'm trying to think of something similar but non-plastic based to use instead.
