Help me identify these please
« on: April 09, 2013, 14:07 »
I brought these 4 grey hens at auction at pol. I've them a year. They lay white eggs. On the paper it said leghorn but not what type. Just want to know what they are please.
The two on the top perch have white mottle and the two on the below perch are kind of stripey.

The only leghorns I've had were white ones and exchequers, and they are not them!  ;)

According to the mypethchicken website, these are the recognised colours of the leghorns:

Dark Brown, Light Brown, White, Black, Buff, Silver, Black-Tailed Red, Columbian, Golden Duckwing

I thought they may have been the light brown, but yours have more white in them, bit like a lace pattern.

They are lovely though!

They look like Millefleur leghorns - very pretty  :)  They could also be red mottled - it depends on the feathers - take a look at a feather and is it all one colour or does it have several colours in a uniform pattern? Millefleur can be in a variety of colours the ones in the photo shown are the standard colour but you can also get lemon/citrus/lavender etc.
