Sorry, I know nothing about orchids - but I love the colour of that feathery thing in the background!!!! :)

(Sorry wasn't trying to be nosy!!!)
Snappy

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.

I could give up chocolate but I'm not a quitter.

Hi Aggy, it looks like either an Oncidium or Ondontoglossum to me. There are lots of hybrids of both around and they both have that swollen pseudobulb at the base of the leaves.

I have both and the only advice I could offer is probably no good as I haven't managed to get either of mine to re-flower   although they do grow well and get plenty of new leaves.

They are growing much better since I moved them to a brighter position so I'm hoping for flowers this Spring/Summer.

Good luck.
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!

I would have went with an Odontonia, rather than a Oncidium due to the depth of green, and these evil gits need replanting in spring if you need flowers, wait until the new emerging growths are approximately 2 - 3 inches high and use an well drained compost such as medium grade bark chippings.

New roots will quickly grow to take advantage of the fresh compost. Splitting the plants can also be undertaken at this time of year and each division should have at least one new growth and two bulbs

You also need food for the beggers , try get your hands on the drop by drop system food , a little plastic vial that you twist the top off and stick in the pot  they are about £2 and take away the feeding worries

PS Selkie sent me here :)  hello ! *wave *
