Half way down the row now & came across this. (The parsnip, not the daughter).

4lb 5 oz, 16" long 17" circumference.

Should do a few Sunday Dinners!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Peel them AND core them - especially this size - just to leave the tender bits.

yes i always peel them but my mum doesn't, i dont like it personally so dont know which taste best, mind you never heard my lot complain about either so i guess they are not bothered either way

I used to peel bought parsnips - they were tough on the outside.  Storage?  Travel? variety?  dont know.  But I just scrub the ones we grow, the skin is nice and tender.  Likewise the core - often woody and tough in bought ones.  Fresh from the ground, not a problem.   :)

Not that they get to 4lbs weight!  Thats wow!, giant veg standard! :shock:

You've seen one already! All the rest are now cut up and frozen, apart from a few left in the ground. But I bet I cant beat your parsnip in a million years!
