Did I really love them this much ?
« on: August 12, 2018, 16:09 »
Following on from the chat about Angel Delight.  I had some milk to use up, so I bought a Butterscotch one in Tesco today.   Trying to whip it up took ages.  Tried three whisks, oh, but the lumps.   Whisking away, did I really used to do this for them ?  I did have a whisk, with the little handle on the side, it was much better than the current ones.   Didn't get all the lumps out quite,  but it doesn't half taste good.  :)  Bet you're all jealous  regards, Mrs Bouquet

Years ago when I could digest milk, butterscotch Angel Delight was one of my favourite things.  I am now Lactose intolerant,I might try it with goats milk which I can have, as I have just looked in the cupboard and we have a strawberry Angel Delight there.  Must have bought it with the Darling Grandsons in mind.

Can you tolerate soya, almond, or rice milk? I’m sure you will but I’d check the ingredients there may be some lastose/lactase/caseinates in the packet.

irrationally, perhaps, or maybe just by association, you've started a longing for Little Miss Muffet junket, preferably raspberry flavour....    Is any kind of junket still available?

You have to hand whisk for sometime and leave it to settle for a good five minutes.
I use a hand blender, but prefer the Argos cookworks one that has a whisk attachment. Quick and easy.
The Argos Cookworks one is great.

If you ARE making Angel Delight for the grandkids and they are present, it is a rule that you MUST use something that can be licked safely by the small person now staring intently at you. The same rule applies when making cake batters or whipped cream... always leave a tiny bit in the bowl for the ceremonial licking out.

Remember, you are the grandparent. It is your duty to return the little dears to their parents absolutely stuffed to the gills with sweet sticky stuff!

Thanks for all your replies.    I am not making it for anybody else, not grandchildren, not grownups, all for me. I've eaten it all as well - lovely :) :)  Mrs Bouquet
