Nerines care
« on: April 01, 2011, 20:51 »
Can anyone offer me some tips on growing nerines in tubs. I planted some of these lovely bulbs reds, pinks and whites a couple of months ago which I have kept under the porch so as to not rot them. This morning I noticed them all starting to shoot and wondered if I put them out in the open now if they would survive heavy rain and maybe the tail end of the nights frosts. Also should I be feeding them in the summer or will that make them have too many leaves and sparse flowers. Are the red ones as hardy or are they treated differently. Determined to get them to flower this year in the autumn. Any tips would be good. By the way they are planted in sand and compost hope this is right.  :D

They're a very beautiful flower and I don't know why I don't grow them myself, but here's some info for you:
