Apple tree flowering
« on: December 02, 2013, 15:31 »
Can anyone tell me why my apple tree has decided to flower.  I did not get any apples from it this year and am wondering if it flowered at this time last year.

The weather has confused it - as it has many plants this year ::)

My roses have only just got their 2nd flush of flowers  :nowink: and my Solanum has only just started to flower! A bit pointless when I'm not out there much to see them

We can only hope for a 'normal' winter to sort things out  ;)

Like mum says, the weather has confused the tree.

If you haven't already fed the tree with manure, add some now because frosts will soon kill back those flowers and the tree needs enough nutrients to put out a proper flush in spring.

Saw a program on the TV , where they said the harder the winter the more blossom in the spring. This applied to most fruit and some needed a longer cold spell than others. I should imagine pruning would also be a major factor.
