I've just bought a giant bucket of Blood,fish and bone and it says I should use 2oz per square yd and this is N P K 5:5:5.

I've also got a tub of Growmore which says I should use 4oz per square yd and this is stronger at N P K 7:7:7.

Basically do you think that they've got the dose wrong on the blood,fish,bone ?

How much would you recommend using,I usually use around 6oz / sq yd.
Or have the powers that be changed their minds on what is necessary ?

You don't really need to use both. Blood, fish and bone is quite slow acting. Growmore is good (non-organic if it's an issue) general fertiliser, with equal amounts of NP&K.
Apply either as the packets say, but not both - a waste of money.
Get your compost heaps going.

I understand what you mean.

I just use a tiny bit of Growmore in the earlier stages,before the blood,fish,bone kicks in  -as you say it's faster acting just to give a quick boost and then rely on the blood,fish,bone to do the main fertilizing over the season.

But I'm sure my last bag of blood,fish,bone said use 4-6 oz/sq yd and this one says 2 oz,thats the main concern.

dont use both you will a) be wasting your money and b) be over feeding the plants and you will get to much lush growth

And apply to the boxes recommendations dont worry about what was on the last pack different suppliers have different strengths rates etc but it all does the same job if you stick to the instructions
